Amana Serial Number Lookup: AC and Furnace Age

Decode the serial number from the data plate. The dominant Amana format (since 1997, when Goodman took over Amana production) is: 10 digits; digits 1-2 = year, digits 3-4 = month. Example: 9704011000 decodes to April 1997. Subtract the decoded year from the current year for the age.

Every one prints a base parts term of 5 years for its residential row. Each gives 10 years if registered within 60 days (PWAACHPPH to PWAACHPR3BODA). They start the term at installation, or at a date counted from manufacture when installation cannot be shown. Some of them tie its terms to the original owner; PWAACHPPH (2/2015) prints: "This warranty only covers the original owner of the residence as of the installation date (as defined below), and his or her spouse". Amana's own limited warranty for the gas furnace models it lists prints "The first four digits of the serial number (YYMM) on the unit indicate the manufacture date."; it is a current certificate, lists its models rather than the word furnace, and the tool reads an older unit's serial by the same rule.
