3/4 inch suction and 3/8 inch liquid up to about 25 feet, stepping the suction up to 7/8 inch from 25 to 79 feet. The liquid line stays 3/8 inch. Longer runs defer to the manufacturer long-line guide.
Can I reuse an R-410A line set on a new R-410A system?
Yes, when the diameters match the new system and the copper is sound and leak-free. Same-refrigerant reuse is the simplest case: no flush is required for oil compatibility. Still install a new liquid-line filter-drier, pressure-test with dry nitrogen, evacuate to 500 microns, and weigh in the charge, because the system has been opened.
How much charge does an R-410A line set add per foot?
On 3/8 inch liquid line, about 0.60 oz per foot, with the system pre-charged for 15 feet. The adjustment is 0.60 times the total length minus the 9 oz factory charge. A 40 foot run adds 0.60 x 40 minus 9 = 15 oz beyond nameplate. Smaller liquid lines use 0.40 oz per foot (5/16 inch) or 0.27 oz per foot (1/4 inch).
