Daikin Serial Number Lookup: AC and Furnace Age

Decode the serial number from the data plate. The dominant Daikin format (2013 to present, Goodman-built US unitary) is: 10 digits; digits 1-2 = year, digits 3-4 = month. Example: 1602393269 decodes to February 2016 (Daikin unitary). Subtract the decoded year from the current year for the age.

Daikin shares its serial number FORMAT with Goodman, Amana, and Janitrol, so one decode rule reads the date on all of them. That is a format match and nothing more. Refrigerant era and warranty terms are per brand, and this page states Daikin's own.

Where the serial and model entered meet, or may meet, a notice's printed conditions, the result shows that notice first, with CPSC's own hazard and remedy, and compares each condition; where a notice lists models and none was entered, it asks for the model, unless something else entered or read from the serial rules the unit out of that notice. It never says a unit is or is not recalled, and it says nothing when nothing entered meets or may meet one.

Daikin certificate PWDACHPR3BEO (07/2024; DH4SE, DH5SE, DC3SE, DC4SE and DC5SE) gives all parts up to 5 years unregistered and up to 12 years if registered online within 60 days of installation, for as long as the original registered owner or his or her spouse owns and lives in the home (the certificate excepts units installed in Texas or Florida); where the install date cannot be verified, it is taken as three months after the manufacture date. A registered unit whose compressor fails in the first 6 years can be replaced once, on the certificate's conditions. The result does not work out a dated term for Daikin: no Daikin certificate is registered for that here. Only the maker's records show whether a unit was registered.

A Daikin serial is declined in two cases. It matches none of the 2 Daikin formats this tool documents, or it has the shape that format expects and the values it reads are impossible: a week outside 1 to 53, a month outside 1 to 12, or a year outside 1955 to 2026. Either way the tool states no date rather than guessing one, and says which of the two happened. Many Daikin mini splits and applied units do not encode a date in the serial at all. Those carry a separate MFG DATE box on the data plate (for example 2008-1); read it directly.

Daikin's own limited warranty for the gas furnace models it lists prints "The first four digits of the serial number (YYMM) on the unit indicate the manufacture date."; it is a current certificate, lists its models rather than the word furnace, and the tool reads an older unit's serial by the same rule.
