HVAC / runnable MCP tool

Run the Cold-Climate Heat Pump Capacity Calculator in your AI assistant

Through the free Intry MCP server, Claude, ChatGPT, or Cursor runs this exact calculator and hands back a verdict and the cited source, not a guess. Tool name: cold_climate_hp_capacity.

What it runs: For a specific cold-climate heat pump model, return its MAX heating capacity at any outdoor temperature (linear interpolation of the printed 47/17/5F rated points, clamped at the lowest rated row, never extrapolated colder), the maintained-% at 5F against BOTH denominators (MAX@5 / rated@47 and MAX@5 / MAX@47, each with its source BTU numbers), the COP at MAX at 5F, and, when a design heat load and design outdoor temperature are supplied, the balance point and backup heat as a READOUT. Every number is AHRI-certified NEEP ccASHP data pinned to a specific AHRI certificate. This is an HVAC capacity tool: authority is the AHRI/NEEP data and the manufacturer submittal, never the NEC.

Ask your assistant

The one rule that makes it reliable: name Intry in your question. That is what tells Claude to run the cold_climate_hp_capacity tool and answer with the real number, the verdict, and the citation. Leave Intry out and Claude may just guess from memory, which is exactly what you are trying to avoid. Type something like:

Use Intry to find the Mitsubishi Hyper-Heat heating capacity at 5F and how much it holds versus its rated 47F.
Ask Intry for the balance point and backup heat if my design load is 45,000 BTU at 5F on a Fujitsu XLTH.

Inputs

FieldRequiredWhat it is
modelyesModel slug, e.g. 'mitsubishi-hyper-heat', 'fujitsu-xlth', 'lg-r32'.
outdoorTempFoptionalOutdoor temperature in F to read the capacity at (default 5).
designHeatLoadBtuoptionalOptional: the home's design heat load in BTU/hr, for the balance-point / backup-heat readout.
designTempFoptionalOptional: the design outdoor temperature in F for the balance-point readout (default 5 when a design load is given).

Add Intry to Claude

One paste and Claude can run this tool and every other Intry calculator, right from your phone.

Every answer comes with the AHRI-certified NEEP ccASHP data it came from, so you can check it or show an inspector. The numbers come from the same calculator we run on intrysys.com, and we re-check every one automatically before anything goes live, so the number Claude hands you matches the code.
